Fine Dining Experiences

The Brentwood Restaurant

Brothers Bill and Jim Stublic from Brentwood, Long Island, NY, brought a taste of their home with them to Little River, South Carolina. The Brentwood Restaurant is located in a beautiful Victorian home built in 1910, and offers guests an artful menu of an interesting mix of French and Lowcountry cuisine, emphasizing fresh and local quality products. There are three private dining rooms where diners can enjoy a variety of food, including prime rib, fish, lamb and poultry, to name a few. After dinner, guests can retreat upstairs to enjoy an after-dinner drink or a fine cigar..

High Hammock

As fine and comfortable as the hammocks themselves; Hammock Shops Village in Pawleys Island is home to High Hammock, Maverick Seaside Kitchen. This beautiful restaurant serves up the best Lowcountry and Southern cuisine, made with the freshest local and regional ingredients and prepared with a Maverick twist. Guests are invited to relax in one of several comfortable and attractive dining rooms or on the porch, just like families have done for generations at Pawleys Island. Lively, yet laidback, inviting and familiar, and always with exceptional hospitality in full swing – that’s High Hammock..

“The Cypress Room” at Island Vista

Either way, it’s a dining experience not to be missed..

Frank’s in Pawley’s Island

Frank’s Restaurant opened in 1988 in the historic landmark of Marlow’s Supermarket. Setting the standard for luxury dining, Frank’s is renowned for its comfortable atmosphere, professional service and fine cuisine. In the dining room, shades of black and taupe lend softness to dark moldings and hardwood floors covered with oriental rugs, while guests dine by candlelight. Frank’s also has an enormous, antique mahogany bar – handcrafted in the late 1800’s – and is indisputably favored among the locals. Chef Pierce Culliton, Executive Chef since the opening, prepares award-winning cuisine – a mix of flavors from Low Country to Pacific Rim, prepared with the freshest, finest ingredients – has become famous in the Coastal area.

UMI Pacific Grille

Experience the exotic flavors of Pacific Rim cuisine at UMI Pacific Grille with a professional staff that takes guests on tour through the flavors of the Far East, Polynesia, Hawaii and the West Coast — from their location in an upscale, open-air kitchen. The luxurious main dining room showcases not only the fire and culinary craft on display in the kitchen, but also sets the stage for committed customer service. UMI features a chic lounge offering classic cocktails, inventive martinis, sake tasting and a number of other intriguing libations. For the ultimate UMI Pacific Grille dining experience, the Chef’s Table is available for reservation where guests may have an exquisite meal prepared exclusively for their party by one of the restaurant’s chefs.

The Grand Strand is the Oceanside Golf Capital

Posted: March 30th, 2009 | Author: Jeff | Filed under: Golf | Tags: , | Comments Off

The Myrtle Beach area boasts more than 100 of the most unique, challenging and picturesque golf courses in the world, making it a premiere destination for golf enthusiasts and aficionados with more than four million rounds of golf played annually.

Pawleys Plantation

Pawleys Plantation

Golfers can experience the beauty of oceanfront holes or stand in the midst of giant live oaks draped in Spanish moss on the site of a colonial rice plantation. Course designers have taken great pains to protect the natural habitat and wildlife indigenous to the Grand Strand while creating courses that are technically challenging and beautiful. Among the world-renowned architects: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Robert Trent Jones, Davis Love III, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman, Gary Player, and Pete and P.B. Dye. The majority of the Myrtle Beach area’s golf courses are open to the public. Many host professional and amateur tournaments including the PGA TOUR Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship each fall, which is played out on more than 70 different courses throughout the destination.

Nearly one-third of the Myrtle Beach area’s golf courses are rated with four-stars or higher in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play” and seven courses are ranked among the “Top 100 Public Courses in America.” In 2002, the Myrtle Beach area was designated “Golf Destination of the Year” by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, winning out over such hotspots as Palm Springs, Hilton Head, Northeast Florida, Scotland, Ireland, and previous winners including the Algarve in Portugal.

In 1967, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday was founded as a not-for-profit organization to promote golf vacations and golf events. Today, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday includes nearly 100 Grand Strand golf courses and resorts.

Following is a partial listing of the Myrtle Beach Area’s famed courses.
